Maintenance Contracts : Product Development
|
|
Micro-Matic Research recognizes three types of product developments :
- Technical status : Technical status changes result from product modifications required to correct malfunctions, fix previous corrections or sometimes overcome previous product limitations.
The Micro-Matic Research version number has the following structure: 'N.nn', where 'N' refers to the new version of the product and 'nn' to its technical status.
- New versions : The introduction of major versions arises from our desire to provide products in a technological state-of-the-art environment.
This phenomenon is illustrated in the evolutionary development of operating systems which require adaptations and, therefore, new versions of the Micro-Matic Research products.
- New functions : For technical reasons, new functions are often introduced with new major product versions. New functions often originate as customer requests or special commercial requirements.
Customers may benefit from product developments in parallel with major version evolution without having to acquire other functions that may be of little value in their environments. This flexibility is taken into consideration when drawing up the customer's Maintenance Contract.
