Open access to your Bull system
In 1996, Micro-Matic Research introduced a new gateway in the successful VTD series: VTD/8 Centro1000. The Enterprise Communication Server has been specially developed for computer environments supporting many PC users.
This VTD/8 board supports 1000 simultaneous sessions without difficulty. Strengthened by its proven TCP/IP protocol, VTD/8 is the solution for all networks involving Bull systems. In addition, VTD/8 is an 'open' solution : a single gateway provides all your communications between Bull, IBM, Unix and PC network systems.
Even more power
Client/server applications can often have an effect on response time. The VTD/8 Centro1000 guarantees fast response times. With 212 transactions per second throughput, you benefit from a transmission power to meet the most demanding server needs.
Even more capacity
The VTD/8 Centro1000 has been designed for networks serving large numbers of users. Many companies want to centralize their communication servers in order to simplify administration and management. VTD/8 Centro is a central point of communication which supports 1000 simultaneous sessions. The gateway has been rigorously tested in the R&D center at MMR-Belgium. The results confirm that VTD/8 Centro1000 is perfectly suited to the demands of large networks.
Even more openness
The VTD/8 Centro1000 gateway provides communication with both IBM and Unix systems. The famous VTD/Amaril emulator offers DKU, VIP, VT220, IBM3270 and Minitel emulation in a single user interface. In addition, if your network is already using other emulators, you can then upgrade the core of your communications with the VTD/8 Centro1000, without changing your emulators.
Even more transparancy
The VTD/8 Centro1000 is delivered with its own TCP/IP high-performance stack which allows seamless integration in TCP/IP network structures. This protocol makes VTD/8 the ideal solution for all networks involving Bull systems. In addition, VTD/8 is compliant with the IPX/SPX and Netbeui protocols allowing migration to an open TCP/IP network.
Layout
The VTD/8 Centro1000 board contains the AMD P75 133 Mhz processor, 16 Mb memory, 512 Kb cache memory, two V24 connectors, one V35 connector and one 10 Mb Ethernet AUI connector. A row of LED's in the VTD/8 card itself indicates the actual status of the board. The board serial number starts at 5000.
Prerequisites
The installation of a VTD/8 Centro1000 gateway can be performed on any Windows NT4, Windows 98, Windows 95 or MS-DOS platform. One free ISA slot is essential in order to install the card. One free IRQ (when installed on a Windows machine), one free I/O address (200, 220, 240, 260, 300, 320 or 340) and a free memory address region (between B000X and DFFFX) are also required.
